Love the car when I first saw it pearl white 4 cylinder SE very classic lines looks looks more expensive than it is my only problem was that I've been the original owner for 17 years but the dashboard literally cracked after 10:00 by then it was too late for to get warranty work still on the car .

  • Good but not Great - 2004 Toyota Camry Solara

Overall, its a good car. It seems to appeal to the older crowd from what I noticed. Not very exciting to drive and it doesnt turn heads. TV tends to make it look more exciting than it really is. Gets pricey when fully loaded. None the less, its a good car. One major problem on my car. The sunroof binds and makes horrible noises. This is not at all what youd expect from a Toyota! Ive made 4 visits (going on 5)to the Dealership over the last 6 months to have this problem fixed. The frequent visits are mostly due to an incompetent dealership. Very dissapointing. Ive gotten to know the Courtesy Driver very well. That cant be a good thing?

  • Problems... - 2004 Toyota Camry Solara

From the beginning, the car pulled to the left. Toyota does not know how to fix. Also, Tire Gauge light does not turn off. Toyota does not know how to fix. Been in the dealer more than Ive driven it. Its a shame because its a beautiful car. Ive gotten lots of complements on it. Unfortunately, the dealer has not been very helpful. Instituted the Lemon Law. :(

  • Would buy again! - 2004 Toyota Camry Solara

Soft ride, comfortable seats, fair gas mileage, not a road racer, great looking, not costly to run or own, the ladies love it with the top down, large trunk space, easy low cost upkeep, always starts, quiet as a convertible can be, 10 second top up or down, interior build quality is excellent.

First of all, owning the new bodystyle solara has been a quite big difference than the other mid-size cars Im typically use to. Its built stronger and rides much better than other cars in its price range, but the horsepower needs much improvements for its price. The car is beautiful once you add the right rims to it, but otherwise boring looking without them. The car furthermore caters to an older (30-40) traditional type driver verses a younger more enthusiatic sports tuned driver. On a whole, the car is very nice to drive and has a lot of room to offer for a family of five to fit comfortably without any cramping in the back.

  • Great car with persistent problems - 2004 Toyota Camry Solara
    By -

This car was purchased as an upgrade to a well loved and much abused Toyota Paseo in December 2003. For the first 4 months it was a dream car. Lots of pep, Lexus-like interior, and an attention grabbing exterior. But then the problems started. So far the traction control system has failed twice, the sun roof has recently stopped working properly, and a component in the rear suspension has come loose and is rattling around like a ping pong ball. This is definitely not the quality I expect from Toyota!

  • great car- bad vision out of rear - 2004 Toyota Camry Solara
    By -

Beautiful, nice handling, plenty of power except for pea headed power hungry males( I am a male). Rear view through mirrors is absolutely miserable- and head restraints are supposedly not removable. Would call the car a lemon design because of the latter. Not safe. The insurance institutes will figure that out quickly. The company has not responded to my rquests for info on changing the rear seats.

  • Shiney new Black head turner - 2004 Toyota Camry Solara

Too new to know about reliability, but the styling, the quiet drive is wonderful so far. A real head-turner w/the top down.

  • Good vehicle - 2004 Toyota Camry Solara

Pros: My 2004 still turns heads on occassion, excellent interior, big trunk, good road manners, average 33 Mpg on the highway with conservative driving. Have had a left drift problem (spring seat displaced, dealer fixed) and replaced a tie rod. The original Bridgestone tires were trash, only lasted 25,000 miles. We have used our Solara very hard, excellently engineered and easy to live with. Not a sports car, but a sporty car.

  • Solara convertible shakiy and shudders - 2004 Toyota Camry Solara
    By -

Review by Cleveland Plain Dealer auto editor says the car is "less than mediocre" because the car shudders and shakes over the slightest road bumps as does the steering wheel. Poor rear visibility with top up due to large non- adjustable rear seat head rests and blind spot from side of top. Would like auto lock and unlock latches for top as in BMW 3 series. Would like automatic boot for top as in Audi Cabriolet even if it would cost some more. Would like option of body side moldings as on 2003 model. Seat belts dont move easily when tethered in belt hoder which also unlatches.
